Gooskens Hout takes a step forward with e-CMR

From paper to digital efficiency

At Gooskens Hout, everything revolves around quality and reliability. The family business has been a fixture in the wood industry for years, delivering large volumes of wood and panel materials to customers in the Netherlands and Belgium every day. Smooth logistics are crucial in this regard.

Yet, the company encountered a familiar bottleneck: paper consignment notes. Each shipment came with stacks of paper, which drivers had to collect, customers had to sign, and then be processed back into the administration. This error-prone and time-consuming process no longer aligned with Gooskens Hout’s ambition to continuously innovate and digitize.

The step towards digitalization

Together with Collect+Go, the decision was made to transition to e-CMR: a fully digital consignment note that integrates seamlessly with the ERP system.

The new process looks like this:

  • Scan and report orders ready: goods are scanned immediately as soon as they are picked in the warehouse.
  • Automatic e-CMR: the system automatically generates a digital consignment note when goods are reported ready.
  • Available in the app: drivers have the e-CMR readily available in the app, without any paperwork.
  • Real-time insight: carriers, drivers, and the internal organization have immediate access to the correct information.

The result: a smooth and clear process in which everyone can switch more quickly.

Takes some getting used to, but quickly embraced

A new way of working always requires adjustment, but at Gooskens Hout the added value was immediately visible.

Nick van de Ven: “Internally, but also the transporters and drivers, are very pleased with the digitalization and also with the app.

The initial reactions have been positive: drivers no longer have to lug piles of paperwork, and the administration can be processed faster and more accurately. Carriers also appreciate the newfound transparency.

It took some getting used to for everyone, but we’re now live with all the carriers. We still need to make some optimizations here and there in our ERP system. The benefits are clearly visible.
